Years Fishing?

Years Guiding?

Who introduced you to fly fishing?

My best friend growing up, watching him catch Mckenzie redsides on big dry flies. That was it, I was hooked!

What's the height of the season for you? What time of year is your personal favorite?

Winter steelhead season is my busiest time of the year. I also favor this season the most because you are fishing for that 20+ over every day. And then it happens!

What are your favorite travel destinations? What's on the bucket list?

Molokai, HI, Tierra Del Fuego, Arolik River, AK and The Yellowstone would have to be my favorite destinations. I would love to go to New Caledonia for Permit......

What you like most about Thomas and Thomas rods? Which rods do you fish?

I love the high quality craftsmanship and sleek look of the rods. As a big two-handed angler, the progressive action of a spey rod is important to me. I love the grain window of the rods and the ability they have to hick some serious junk. The rods I fish are: 9ft 8wt Solar, DNA 1307, DNA XD 1208, and the 1267 DNA XD

What's your current go-to fly?

Black and Blue Pot Belly Pig

Other than fly tackle, what piece of gear do you find indispensable?

A headlamp.

My favorite thing about guiding is:

Watching an angler hook up to there first double digit chrome monster, that chews them up, spits them out and leaves them babbling like a little girl. That's my favorite thing about guiding for steelhead.

From the angler’s point of view, what do you see as the main value of going on a guided trip?

Learning the tricks of the trade as well as more effective ways to approach different types of water. It's just as much a learning experience as it is a fish catching show.

What can new fisherman expect to get out of a guided trip? My favorite thing to teach a client is ...

How to mend properly is a very important aspect of fishing. Mends are like a relationship, a short good one is better than a long bad one!

What's your ideal lunch when on the water? What do you actually pack?

Ideal lunch is Grilled Chicken California sandwiches with some killer chips, seasonal fruit and a selection of cold/hot beverages. I will pack this or some steaks or sausages. A grilled hot lunch is the only way to roll!!

What fly fishing blogs/magazines do you read regularly?

Moldy Chum, Oregon Fly Blog, Deneki Blog, Fly Fishing Journal and The Drake.

When I'm not fishing you'll find me:

Working on my boat, truck or gear, getting ready for the next adventure.
